Psychiatric Services
We are currently accepting new patients. Our practice telepsychiatry based exclusively. Provided you are the right patient for telepsychiatry services, you will receive the highest standard of privacy in your care. You will be able to see me from your home or any private location you are comfortable in, as long as you are in New Jersey or New York at the time of your visit and you have computer, tablet, or smart phone access with broad band internet service.
Our practice is geared towards adults who may need medication management or psychotherapy, requiring privacy during the course of their treatment. Our focus is treating non emergent psychiatric issues, such as depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD, OCD, adjustment disorders, and promoting wellness. The standard of care in psychiatry is to understand the biological, psychological, social issues affecting the patient. I will make recommendations based on this approach and may include nutrition, exercise, sleep hygiene, meditation, light therapy, supplements and/or medications. With your consent, we are happy to work with your primary care physician or your therapist as necessary. The goal is to provide comprehensive care in order to get you on the path to emotional wellness and optimize your functioning.
Telepsychiatry is a great way to provide excellent psychiatric care to patients, however it does not lend itself to the proper treatment of patients with substance use disorders, major psychotic disorders, bipolar disorder, dementia, or psychiatric emergencies. We are not equipped to manage psychiatric conditions that require urgent care or 24/7 treatment. A large health care system or a community mental health care clinic is better equipped to treat these patients.
We also do not prescribe standing DEA Schedule II medications like stimulants or narcotics (Adderall, Ritalin, or other stimulants) in compliance with the Telemedicine law in New Jersey or any controlled substances in compliance with the Ryan Haight Act (Xanax, Valium, Klonopin, etc.).
How it works
Request a free 15 minute phone consultation. I will call you within 24-48 business hours and we will review your screening information and decide if you are an appropriate fit for my practice. If you are, then you will receive an invitation to create your own private chart in my patient portal. There, you will be able to fill out all the practice’s Intake Forms and schedule your own appointment. You will be able to communicate with me directly through the chart portal for any questions that arise. At the time of your scheduled appointment just click on your email appointment confirmation link and you will be directed to our private videoconference session via Zoom. You can also find your link at the appointment section of the patient portal.
Fees
Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation (60-90 minutes) $350
We'll start with an initial evaluation (intake) in order to formulate a comprehensive protocol tailored for you. During this first appointment, we'll explore your current challenges and discuss your background psychiatric and medical history. We'll assess various aspects of your health and lifestyle, including medications, diet, exercise, substance use, family history and relationships, occupation, and life goals. In addition, we'll review any diagnostic tests that you may have had done. When appropriate, we may also consult with other health professionals on your treatment team. Based on our thorough evaluation, we'll provide you with feedback and guidance to help you achieve optimal wellness.
Follow Up Visit (Focused Session) (15-25 minutes) $175
In these focused visits we'll check in about your progress, evaluate response to treatment, review new test results, make simple adjustments to the treatment plan, or work on brief, focused psychotherapy.
Follow Up Visit (Psychotherapy/Full Session) (45-55 minutes) $250
During these full sessions, we'll evaluate your response to treatment and make adjustments to the treatment plan where needed. These sessions also allow us time for reviewing test results, medication adjustments or for psychotherapy.
Consultative Evaluation (Second Opinion) (60-90 minutes) $350
These appointments provide a comprehensive “second opinion” regarding your current diagnosis and treatment plan. In this service, we function as consultants to your current mental health treatment. If you opt to make use of this service, you will be expected to maintain your primary prescription and treatment through a psychiatrist and/or a primary care clinician.
Policies and Insurance
We do not participate in any health insurance plans or Medicare and are considered an "out of network" practice.
Payment will be charged at the end of each visit. We require patients have a valid credit card on file.
You will be able to print out a Superbill form from the portal in order for you to submit directly to your insurance company. Please check with your insurance as some out of network benefits do not cover my services. Typically your insurance will cover any medications or labs that I order but you must check your benefits prior to scheduling an appointment.
If stand alone medication refills are required for continuity of care because you cancel or miss your appointment without rescheduling, you will be assessed a $75 fee for medication refills.
In selected cases, I accept a reduced fee and do pro bono work.
Cancellations and Missed Appointments
We require you give us a 24 hour notice for any appointment you are unable to keep. Full fees are charged for missed appointments as this time is reserved exclusively for you.
Privacy and Confidentiality
Your records and the fact that you are being seen are strictly confidential. You must give written authorization for me to disclose or release your medical records with anyone. In the case that we need to communicate with your primary care doctor, and/or therapist, in order to provide the best care, we will need you to sign a release that would allow me to do so. There are exceptions, including: if you are a danger to yourself or others, if there appears to be abuse of a child, dependent adult, or developmentally disabled person. In such cases we are required by law to report.
